Cancer can lead to uncontrolled growth in the body that causes a lump known as a tumor. People are allowed to go back to work after a successful cancer treatment. When you go back to work after the treatment you will be maintaining the sense of who you are and you can fit in. By going back to work you will be boosting your self-esteem and your income. Your job will remind you that you have a life far away from cancer. When you go back to work you can become a valued employee, a trusted worker and a valued boss. When you go back to work you will have regular contact with people and this will help you forget about the cancer treatment. When you are undergoing the treatment you were feeling isolated and alone but at work you will feel more comfortable because you will be having people around you. Always contact your employer before going back to work so that you can check on the options they have for you. Ask them if they can offer you jobs that will ease your mind and body as you take the demanding job. There are some people who will cope very fast with full-time job and others will take some time to adjust. When you report to work, you will feel tired and you will find it difficult to focus at first. As you go back to work you should take care of yourself as you try to get back to your normal life. Your co-workers can help you get back to work. It is important that you check on how open you will be when it comes to sharing your cancer experience with your co-workers. In some working environments you will not benefit sharing your cancer experience. You should not share your cancer journey in organizations that are very competitive or fast paced working environments. If you don’t get an opportunity to share your experience you should never feel pressured. If you manage to go back to work after the cancer treatment make sure you seek legal protection. Regardless your cancer situation you will be having some rights as an employee and you should be given equal opportunities like others. Your treatment at work should depend entirely on your qualifications and abilities. You cannot be fired legally is you are fulfilling your duties and responsibilities at work even if you are sick. It is good to consider the accommodation at work when you report to work after cancer treatment.
