There are some genuinely fantastic deals to be had with the original ipad, so should you rush out and buy the new ipad 2? Lets take a look at what’s on offer…
For gadget lovers all over the world we are now a few weeks into the launch of the new ipad 2 in the UK. So will you be tempted to buy? Or should you stick with the original ipad because there are some great deals to be had?
So the ipad 2 will offer video calling and is up to twice as fast because of a new dual-core A5 processor and of course is thinner and lighter. At around the same price you can see why people may be tempted by the ipad 2.
On the other hand the ipad (original) is available with some great tariffs as mobile operators look to boost ipad sales before the ipad 2 takes over.
Orange is offering 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G version of the original iPad for just 99 on a 24 month contract. Existing customers pay 25 a month, new customers, 27, for 1GB of anytime and 1GB of ‘quiet time’ data, plus unlimited BT Openzone Wif-Fi access. The 64GB version is even better value; 100 less; 249 for existing customers.
Personally I like my laptop to be mylaptop, my mobile phone to be my mobile phone and my desktop PC to be my desktop PC. I like to go running and I certainly would not take an iphone out to listen to music, let alone with an ipad stuck under my arm; that’s what my ipod nano and ipod shuffle are for! Keep things simple when it comes to gadgets that is my thinking. Perhaps that’s just becuase I’m an old fashioned kind of gadget lover…
So how does recycling your old mobile phone impact on the environment?
When you recycle something like a mobile phone it creates a circular supply chain. These types of supply chain benefit the environment in a number of ways. They reduce carbon emissions, as there is no longer a need to produce all of the components such as printed circuit boards. This has an effect further back on the supply chain, as less of the primary materials are sourced-so the carbon footprint reduces further.
Another benefit is waste management. At this point emissions are reduced as there is less metal and electronic waste (e-waste) which ends up in the landfill recycling process. Nearly all metal waste can be and is melted down to its purest form and re-used: It is important that we do this to keep scarce natural resources in circulation. Although the waste from your recycled mobile phone still has to be recycled, this it carried out by specialist, private companies and does not impact on government waste management funds.
There is an estimated 20-50 million tonnes of e-waste produced each year which can house harmful components such as lead and cadmium. This waste makes up 5% of all solid waste and with an average lifespan of only 2 years for a mobile phone (in developed countries), it can only increase.
Still think its just too much hassle to recycle your phone?
Perhaps you should think about not only the long term environmental damage e-waste will do to our planet, but the long term damage it will do to your finances. When you choose to throw away your phone with general household waste it is taken away by your local Council. This service is paid for with your taxes and if we continue to increase
Mobile technology has come a long way in the last few years and our devices now cover a whole range of uses that quite often include listening to our favourite music. Many of us will have some sort of docking station and today we have news of the new Pear gadget that allows Bluetooth connection to a speaker dock.
We get to see a number of great gadgets over at the Kickstarter project and the Pair product is another one. When you place your handset into a docking station to play music you are unable to talk, text, and email, but that is where Pear comes in as it replaces your handset on the dock, and allows you to control your music via your phone thanks to Bluetooth.th.
It is a standalone device that will connect an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android device to a speaker docking station via Bluetooth. So users will be able to listen to their music while texting, surfing the web, and emailing as your phone will now be back where it belongs in your hand.
Pear will sync just like a hands free headset or any other Bluetooth device and then you can easily play your music. So far the team behind the clever idea have developed three working prototypes and a working business model. Already they have found a source for the manufacture of the product and have a website dedicated to the item and called it
Some of the specifications of the Pear include a stainless steel sync/power button, only 1oz in weight, 30pin Apple style connector, 9 LEDs allowing proper Pear glow 1 power/sync button, FCC and CE compliant, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and the pear measures 41 x 40 x 10mm.

If you are experiencing a non-existent to lousy mobile phone signal you might find this to be a highly annoying situation. But if you are able to investigate the situation you might find that there are several steps that can be taken to help with improving the quality of the reception. Here are some of the main options available:
Change the mobile phone network
A straightforward option is to look at changing the mobile phone network to see if that is able to help in situations of experiencing poor reception or dropped calls. If you aren’t signed up to a particular contact you might find that it will be possible to change to an alternative service to see if that is able to solve an issue related to the signal. Many times this option is able to go a long way to help improve on the performance of the mobile phone.
Invest in a Femtocell Signal Box
If you are living in a basement flat or countryside and find it difficult to get the ideal reception at all times, you might want to invest in one of the femtocell or similar such devices that are offered by the mobile phone companies for helping to improve on the signal in a certain area. Many of the devices are similar in design to a wireless router and just need to be plugged in to help with boosting the signal inside the home. Many of these devices are able to accept 25 to 30 different mobile numbers which means they are just as effective for the small office environment which is inclined to experience poor reception every so often. A femtocell is often able to help with issues relating to both poor signal strength and mobile tower congestion.

Your mobile phone has tonnes of awesome features that you may not even be aware of, such as the ability to watch films. You know that you can take candid pictures, make and receive calls, listen to music, go on the internet to check your email or browse the web and take video, but did you know you can watch your favourite movies on your mobile phone?
Sometimes you would rather watch a movie than just listen to music to pass the time, now you can with your mobile phone. Unfortunately, not all phones are made to watch movies but the newer your mobile phone is, the more likely you will be able to watch your favourite movie.
Is it Hard to Watch a Film on a Mobile Phone?
Dont worry about being tech savvy when it comes to watching films on your mobile phone. It is really easy and really worth the five minutes itll take you to be able to watch films which will distract you from long waits in the doctors office, or anything else you need a distraction from. Heres what you need to get started to watching films on a mobile phone:
Go to a media converter website to add a movie from your hard drive to the converter list and set the format type to .avi.
Give your movie a chance to convert as this may take a few minutes to a few hours depending on the bandwidth speed. Once the conversion is finished, just hit the OK button. Most websites will ask for your email and they will let you know when the movie has finished downloading so that you can download it to your phone.
Then you save your movie and watch it whenever you want.
Apples iPad is one of the most popular and innovative gadgets created in this generation. Its popularity reaches even the farthest nook and cranny in the world. One proof of this is the proliferation of iPad applications that many owners go crazy about. Yes, the iPad is, in itself, an interesting gadget; but if you add in applications like games, music, eBooks and movies, it becomes an awesome gadget. Applications for the iPad have multiplied rapidly; there are now thousands upon thousands of application sources in the Internet. There are even those that claim to offer free apps for iPad download. But is this even possible? Free apps?
Yes, there are a number of iPad applications that you can freely download. Some websites even have their own regularly updated list of the best free iPad apps sources. Apps that are given for free ignite the interest of may iPad owners. These iPad owners, though, are not aware that some websites actually have viruses, adware and spyware that can pose extreme danger to your computer system. Once you download anything from any of these so-called free sites, no matter how small the size is, you will put your computer in danger.
Because of this, a lot of industry insiders advice iPad users to use only legitimate downloading websites. These legitimate websites have the same services that so-called free apps downloading websites offer. There is just a slight difference, though.
Legitimate iPad apps downloading sites offer you two convenient ways of downloading the apps that you want. The first option is to get the pay-as-you-download offer, where you pay a particular fee each time that you download. If you want to spend only when you want an application, you can choose this option. This is a legal procedure so you wont
